"I've been doing it this way for 20 years and it's working just fine. I'm not going to change now."
There isn't a day that goes by without hearing this from a Prospect. "Taking orders over the phone, sending out paper order forms is working great for me. If it's working, why change?" We're not the ones that will ever convince you. Nor do we waste our time trying.
Whether YOU decide to change your business practices is (of course) entirely up to you. However, in our opinion, this demonstrates a severe lack of being in touch with your end customers, and the world for that matter. Just because it works for you does not mean it is necessarily working for your customers. No matter what you decide, we only (politely) suggest you keep a keen eye on the TRENDS...how we got to where we are today, and what lies ahead.
Let's face it. Amazon has literally changed the world. And the worst (or best?) is yet to come. Of all the changes Amazon has effected, one of the top 5 for certain is--they have successfully changed consumer behavior, standards and expectations. The "Amazon Effect" is here and will continue to devastate traditional business models.
But Amazon is NOT the only TREND that will be a force for change. Check out the other industry trends that will have an even more IMMEDIATE impact on your business. And be forewarned...many of your current "partners" are out to take your clients away from you and go DIRECT. Don't be naive. Ask the tough questions. And ask again and again. But most importantly, be aware, informed and control those aspects of your business you can to navigate the obstacles that are apparent today, and the ones that will become clearer in the near future.
